What you all Need is a Mental Cat like mine   :D hes my pride and joy. Hes a Fully grown Male Maine coon, he weighs in at 25 pounds and he Hates Foxes hes already Killed 2 and chased a third off ( although i have'nt seen that fox again so i think tuffy got him to) he Draws the line at chickens and Hedgehogs though, coz hedgehogs don't fight fair with all those spines hehe, and hes scared of the chickens for some reason...he Guards their run at night lol..

Hope you get your place Mr fox proof soon, Failing that you could always get a Mental cat like mine hehe
I now have the chicken bug woot i love the Poland's

Re using human hair to ward off the fox. I do still use it even though I now have an electric fence that is switched on. I have no idea whether or not it works I only know I have had no visits. Don't like to stop using it now!! ::)
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!

Thanks for all crossed fingers etc.  although typing a bit of a problem with crossed fingers :D.  Will let you know the outcome of fox battle.  I rather like the idea of a mental cat though?

Have a good weekend.

yes verminer i heard that one also if males urinate around the peremiter that is supposed to work and dog faeces is supposed to keep them away there are all sorts of old remedies don't know if any work though

Might seem rather odd but my dogs does his business round the back of the coop/run and although my nearby neighbour has had a fox I havew not even seen any signs of him in my garden.
two thing you should never worry about, yesterday and tomorrow.

they will not go in a garden that has a dog in it (normally that is, there is always an exception to the rule ) touch wood we haven't had a fox in either just hope the fox's in the area know they aren't supposed to come in a garden that has a dog in it  :)

You poor thing!
Hope it all goes well at the vets.
Yes definitely keep her in somewhere warm dark and quite.
If you decide to keep your girls there are many things you can do to ensure the safety of your birds.
I have foxes right outside my garden, yet they have never managed to get any of mine, and I have had them for 20 months. The chooks I mean, not the fox :)

When you have a little bit of time I would love to see a photo of your coop and help you come up with a fox proof strategy.
The cube of netting is really one good solution and can be sorted quite quickly.
Also, go out 30 min before dusk and make sure they get to bed safely.
Mark your territory! The theory about peeing in the garden, seems to keep the foxes out. I know it sounds weird, but it works. Apparently a mans wee is supposed to be the best, but it does not seem to matter too much.

Good luck and let us know how you get on,

Keeping our fingers and toes crossed for you.

Linda
