Went to my local show today and had a great time , made it more enjoyable entering stuff to.

I entered in the 6 organic veg section and come second  it was great

Also entered in th jam section with my cougette and pineapple jam and got a highly commended lol.

Going to enter more next yr

Thanks Yorkie you should have come it was a great afternoon, yes i entered it in the seeded fruit jam section as i used a real pineapple and there where seeds in it.

As soon as i get pics from my friend with the camera will post ).

Our allotment is having their first show in two weeks. I want to show community spirit but I don't know what to put in. I can't really get into this tying raffia round onions and measuring the circumference of shallots. Also if its really good I want to eat it.

Yeah Noah, I know how you feel but I was press ganged into putting something on the show bench to keep up the numbers due the wind storms we've had up here the past ten days, people being on holiday and the bloke who normally fills the benches not having done any gardening this year.

First and second with marrows (still got about 10 left so plenty to be going on with), third with a red cabbage (couple more good ones left so no problem) and first with a marrow chutney.

Now no-one mentioned winning prizes when I had a glut of marrows. Now maybe next year I will do a proper job and keep a few more items for the show - must just make sure I have some good standard gluts eh?

 yes its a good crack ,but im not in the league of the proper show growers and i dont think i ever want to be ,what we grow we like to eat

I'll just go down on the morning of the show and see what's half way decent. I was thinking of putting in a few runner beans but the wind this week blew them to the floor. As its our first show there are only a few categories but there is one called "3 other veg" so I supose if its not in another category it goes in there!
