Wait until you plant them out and the slugs get to them!
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Good light conditions for strong seedlings.

Low light makes your seedlings leggy.

If you are germinating your seeds on the window sill indoors make sure you have a reflector behind them to increase the illumination.

Fellow forummers (?) - you are all great! Thank you so much.

Picked up some real nuggets here - looks to me like I'm being over-cautious in many cases!

Will try all the remedies above - still have enough seeds to do another inddor set and an outdoor set in May, so I'm not done yet.

Can I just ask - someone referred to 'broadcast sowing' - what's that then?

PS - wait til I start posting pics of the lottie itself . . .

(Someone will tell me if all this pic posting is mucking up bandwidth or server space or whatever, won't they?)
Veg? That's chips, innit?

It refers to scattering of the seed over a wide area, rather than in straight rows.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Scattering seed over an area rather than sowing in rows.

And finally (Esther) the 'erbs. A mixed bag here . . .

First, some Parsley I sowed March 4th and kept in an unheated propogator which I uncovered about a week ago - they took a while to show and are looking decidedly spindly if you ask me. Is there a better way?

Next up, the Coriander - sown same time as the Parsley, this was the first thing to show. About a week ago I transplanted these into a window-box I'mkeeping in the greenhouse as a grow-on bed. I think they look pretty healthy - any cinflicting opinions?

And finally my poor little babies. This is a sed-bed of Basil Genovese and Chives. My oh my, don't they look sorry for themselves? I have no clue as to why.  Glumness personified - think maybe I did these too early.

Your basil tray looks bone dry to me? may have something to do with it?

You're right Dan - not sure how I overlooked that. Gave it a good watering last night and they're perking up a bit now.
