Have you got any other suggested additions to my record sheet.

You can download it to excel if you want to see the formulas behind it.

There are two tabs one ringed in green and one in red.

What's wrong with a bit of chalk on the barn door Ruff.  Or if you want to be really posh a nice little note book you can take out to the hens with you to make notes.  ;)

But Aunty you know me I do not name my chucks. There is a space for description.

you could have a column called labelled HEALTH where you could put any info about problems they've had or treatments they've needed!  :D

I know they are little people and they deserve rights to space.  But I am slightly old fashoned I describe mine e.g. Big Speck = the big specaldy  Small Speck = the small specaldy .

What about leg rings?  Give each one of a breed different colours then you'll know if one in particular id problematic.

No I will be giving each year of hatch a different colour. The breed you should be able to tell from sight.

Yay - I also have a Mrs Tweedie style egg list - now I can tell my husband it's normal as other people have them too!   ;)

As for the original question - it's always handy to have a general comments column (sorry if you already have - I can't see it now I'm in the post reply window!). I also think it's good to keep a log of eggs laid by each hen as I've heard it's a good indicator of illhealth if the egg laying drops off unexpectedly. Might be trickier if they're nameless though...

Even more trickier if you've got 500 down the garden!!

I keep records of the chicks until they reach point of lay,  I weigh them every week, when I remember they get a general photo done, I tick everytime I go to see to their food and water and the temperatures and Relative Humidity.  and number of dead stock

But I'd hate to think how much disk space I'd have used if I kept a record of every egg  !!   :D :D

I was so glad to pick up this thread - I thought my OH was being a bit of an anorak keeping a database of the eggs laid (number of eggs per day plus combined total weight), but now I appreciate that lots of other people find this interesting.  I just like to go out and cuddle and talk to my girls (and fret over them too)!

I guess we are all secret anoraks in some respect!  I guess if I am 'fessing mine then it has to be Dr. Who but I didn't go as far as giving my girlies alien names! - But that's got me thinking now - I have been wanting to put a name over the coop.  Perhaps it will become the Tardis!

And a further thought - I actually keep a Chicken diary/sketchbook with notes, drawings and cut-outs, together with bits of info gleaned from all the knowlegeable folks on this forum.  There are notes about first eggs and their weights, products I have bought, food I have tried on them.  Now isn't that slightly nerdy?
