Blackcurrent Jam
« on: August 01, 2010, 12:48 »
Hi,
Am about to make some jam from some Blackcurrents a fellow plot holder gave me. I am taking them all off of the stems which is a tedious enough job but I am also trying to take off all the little dried bits off of the bottom of each current. Is this necessary? It's going to take me forever! Please tell me I just need to take the stalks off????? Thanks

If you are making jam it is best to remove the brown tops, if you sieve the cooked berries and make jelly you don`t have to bother. :)

I had the same question a few weeks ago.  Val answered and assured me that she didn't remove them and it doesn't make any difference.  Tried it and she's right so save yourself the trouble. :D

No problem, it's the simple little questions that cause a lot of thinking and bother but usually someone on here will have the answer.  Happy jamming
