What kind of hen
« on: April 24, 2011, 19:44 »
Hi there. Can anyone help me identify my pure breed hen. She is White with light brown/buff patches. Mostly White though. She has feathers down her legs, four toes and looks like the start of a crest. She has a long neck. Breeder said possibly a salmon faverolle but the have five toes. She only six weeks so it's hard to say. Any ideas?

A picture would help, any chance of one?  Welcome to the forum by the way and why don't you pop over to the "welcome" forum and introduce yourself. :)

Are you sure she's a pure breed?  apart from the feathered feet, she looks a bit like an amberlink, but they are hybrids!

She doesn't live in that little ark with the feeder and drinker does she?   :( :(

Hi there
The breeder said they were pure breads. Not certain though. No they don't live in the ark they spent the first evening in there just to keep them separate before going in with my other hens once it got dark. They are getting along fine. I have a cream legbar, a nankin and an Ancona already plus my new three, one welsummer, one silver laced Wyandotte and the one in the photo.
My hens are free range and have around acre to roam around accept the small one who are at present confined to the large coop and run for their safety until bigger.
