First posting:-  I obtained 2 wynandots about 8 weeks ago. After about 1 week they hadn't started to lay, so I was advised to place a couple of golf balls in the nests. That worked and they started to lay...yippeeeeeeeeee.   But now they've stopped, and I've been advised it's because I left the golf balls in the nest, and it's turned them broody.  I've removed the golf balls, but they still wanted to sit, so for 6 days now I've had to literally chase them out of the coop, even having to lock them out.  They seem to be returning to their normal selves (if there is such a thing),  what can I do to get them to lay again.  many thanks

There's not really that much you can do - they're persistant and as an egg would take about 21 days to hatch, it's going to be a while before they get back to normal again. It's also "broody time of year" at the moment - one of ours came out of it as two went in. It's a pain but there's nothing much that can be done to remedy it - nature has hard-coded it into them
