To know I am amongst friends who don't even know me is just something I cannot put into words. Yesterday was not one of the best for me but today I feel a bit brighter. He's still in hospital because they don't discharge over the weekends, but he's doing ok. I'm currently trying to find a nurse's starchy uniform on Amazing otherwise, when he finally comes home, it'll be a bit of a shock to his system. Fortunately I have a cunning plan in place. If he gives me any trouble I've bought an enema kit which I will employ at my convenience!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I can't help it Snowy, but scenes from "Carry on Doctor" were flashing through my mind as I read your post. Just be careful your nurse's uniform doesn't give him any ideas, and as for the enema at your 'convenience', I loved the pun!

Jay dig, t’wasn’t me  :nowink: it was GG herself, think Mr S would have something to say if I popped round to Mr GG in said nurses outfit. P.s how did you know about that, thought we had kept it a secret

Now I KNOW I'm getting old - can't even remember someone's name from one minute to the next!  Apologies for any offence caused, just put it down to my age and poor eyesight.

No worries Jaydig, just thought it might be confusing to others

Lovely to see chums all gathering round and looking out for someone who's down!

Something tribal about this - that's what good groups do!

Oh dear! You've all given me such a lot of badly-needed chuckles and I can't thank you all enough. I had a vision last night where Mr G's new medication led him to escape from the hospital where he went to Williamson's Park on foot and was finally rescued by the emergency services whilst doing a rather bad imitation of King Kong on the top of Williamson's Memorial!!

Sorry he is still in hospital, but they need to sort those meds out for you both.    I am sure you were both relieved to get a diagnosis, thats some of the battle won.     What a good job you moved house at least that will be one less pressure.   Take care of yourself at this time.   Mrs Bouquet  xxxx
PS;   King Kong, well well I wish I had shared your dream.   As for the enyma - good luck with that. ;)

Just got a phone call this morning that he's coming home today. Supposedly there was a co-ordinator who rang me yesterday - no - unless they rang during the 20 minutes I was taken and brought back from our local Co-op.
Anyway, he can't wait to get home and then I'll look at the info he's been given as to what he needs and also look re- your advice for help. Thank you all yet again. You know I'm always here for you no matter what's going on in my life. That's what GG does and it keeps her going during times like these.

Just an update. Our local surgery has specialist assistants for people who have been in hospital and are having on-going problems, so we rang them and they've been brilliant. We knew we could get help and assistance from various organisations but just didn't know who to ring and if we'd missed something. One of the places to ring was Age UK so we did and a lovely lady came yesterday. Wow! What? We're entitled to this, that, and also that??? She's going to set various balls in motion on Monday and is coming back in a week's time. Anyone on here in the same position or needs help due to their age then their website is really useful.

That's actually what social services are supposed to do under Section 9 of the Care Act  ::) a full care assessment should have been done after discharging Mr G from hospital. Hopefully the person you spoke to will now get things moving for you.

Ah, thanks Lardman. He was supposed to have someone come round after he left hospital, but no-one came. What a surprise!  >:( This lady used to be a nurse and is very enthusiastic to get things organised for us. We feel such a great weight has been lifted off our shoulders.

Social services being useless - well I never.  :nowink:  Just a little support can go a long way to making things feel more manageable.
