is on Thursday 21st December, the shortest day of the year, although we won't notice much change for a while. It is all explained here..

It always feels like we have turned a corner in the Winter though... worth raising a celebratory glass as far as we are concerned. Hoping for a clear sky so we can see the sun rise on Friday morning

Yes, it's a milestone in my winter too, if only because the days can't get any shorter. Somehow it seems like things are on the mend, despite January being the coldest month of the year and still to come

Yes it's a milestone in my winter - another year to add to the tally.

I can't wait! The last few days until the shortest day seem so dark and dreary.

Agree with the previous comments , looking forward to the days drawing out and may start looking at the weather pages with regard to the sun rise and setting time. One of my work colleagues comes from one of the African countries near the Equator and apparently the day light hours are the same every day.

Nearly there.
The sun hides behind the trees at the moment, but has a new idea in a few days time...

Note that the earliest sunset happened a week ago, around the 12th December, and the latest sunrise is not until early January. The evenings have been getting lighter for a week but the mornings are still getting darker. It is explained here:
