Title: strawberry troughs

has anyone seen the wooden  framed raised trough for strawberry's when its finally contructed its waist high and maks it easy for picking your strawberry's, it was on the TV a while ago,i would love to get hold of the construction details  :)

thanks joyfull,no thats not the one,the ones i saw was aprox 2 or even 3 meters long ,ideal for the allotment. thanks anyway 8)

but you could always adapt this design and make it longer couldn't you? If necessary put an extra set of legs in the middle.

I'm about to build one with left over fencing timber - which could be interesting!! :wacko:

thought i would revive an old'un
the troughs i was thinking of for next year would be 2m long 200mm deep at waist height but on wheels so during the dormant season they could be out of the way but when fruiting wheel them into the sun,I have seen commercial growers on PYO farms use something similar,what i am wondering is :-
A/
what material for construction
B/
I want the plants to last as long as normal i.e 3 seasons would compost need changing if they where feed
C/
Is this feasible or a waste of time!

Saw the troughs you mentioned a couple of years ago on a weight loss programme - the contestants had to empty the used containers. I thought at the time that they seemed a great idea. No bending; too high for slugs but like any planter idea they would need watering. They seemed to be from some commercial company growing strawberries on a large scale.
