The serious diet started two days ago.

Is there a none serious type ? I really should do something too - I put a battery in the bathroom scales yesterday as my knee has started to play up, I've added 2.5 stone since ML died.

Chard, green onions from cheapo sets planted last autumn and red ones from clearance bargain sets planted a few months ago. I grew them both to have as giant ‘spring’ onions. Asparagus from the garden buried at the back 

The serious diet started two days ago.  Today will be chicken drumsticks, salad and maybe some rice.

I see the idea in the newsletter about copper for slug control. Research shows copper mesh is cheaper. I have the idea that this could be buried around the plant OR perhaps better still (reusable) wrapped and (stuck!) around a pot with the bottom cut off.

Anyone used copper and/or mesh for this purpose (before I buy yet another useless idea!)?
