I have a very prominent slope/bank directly outside a new extension to my kitchen. It will become an important view for me.

I need some year round interest.

Definitely some help with evergreen shrub structure and any tips you can think of.

I have a habit of planting up a new area with herbaceous perennials and annuals and they end up looking awful in winter and weedy until i can identify whats coming up in spring.

The slope is south facing, but because of the house it loses sun in the afternoon.

My soil is on the acidic side.

Okay, hit me with your collective genius  :)

mahonia and hellebores will give you colour in the winter, also how about using dogwood, pretty and leafy in the summer then you get the lovely yellow or red stems throughout the winter, i'm sure someone else will come along in a minute with lots of ideas  :)
