 . . I've let Star take the chicks out into the big world of the garden, it's worse than taking the children to school for the first time, my nerves are shattered

They look so tiny and vulnerable

If they are like mine they are tiny - my 4 week old ones are out most of the day now with mum but the one week old ones are still in runs as I am away from them during the day.
The 4 week old aras are out and about on their own (I gave up trying to stop them escaping through their netting  .

I thought the poots were tiny until I saw the Dutch bantams, they're minute, probably golf ball size  

They stick close to mum and the aunties are very good at looking after them too, in fact Ruby took up residence right outside the run door and only moved when I let Star out into the main run..

She's obviously decided they've had enough of the big world because she's taken them back into their small run, now I can relax  .  I think a cup of tea is called for
