Try Best Pet Pharmacy co.uk They tend to be pretty reasonable

You can get coxoid from any pet store, including garden centre ones.

They sell it for all birds; pidgeon, cage birds etc.

As mentioned, R66vey, Coxoid treats coccidiosis, but what feed are you giving your birds?  We use Farmgate feed and it already has a coccidiostat in it, and they tell you not to use another coccidiostt as one can cancel out the other.  But coxoid is  supposed to be good.  I bought a bottle but never used it.  It's a small opaque bottle with greeny fluid and is about £6.

I think if this is the 5th hen to die then I suggest you see a vet asap.

Here is a link for the coxoid

Hi Daz,

Wierd you had problems getting the stuff?
I've seen it at my "local" farm & pet place??

I was told the same as Grannie, if you buy the feed with it in you don't need the stuff.

Don't think it treats anything more  of a tonic, to help digestion and deter gut parasites etc etc, I could be wrong tho'

I was under the impression, it's only chick crumbs that contain the coccidiostats (sp.?) so they can build up immunity before they range as adults.

Couldn't find any info on BOCM site as to whether they do or don't in all the poultry products.

The Science:

Apple cider vinegar (unrefined) contains tannin which helps to remove mucous from the digestive tract.  This then helps to prevent a build up of mucous which may contain infection causing microbes.

 Perhaps a cup of tea or a glass of red wine would do the same
