Hello, I thought I’d introduce myself before plaguing you all with questions.
I’m widowed with a 9 year old daughter, and I’m just getting grips with an allotment in my local village site, and although I’m an old hand at big gardens, I’m completely new at allotments. We’ve just moved into a newish housing estate, with about four square feet of garden, So I thought we’d give allotment a shot.
The allotment is up by the school bus stop, so it’s nicely convenient for me. It’s 8x22m, so a fairly typical size and shape, and not too weedy (no bindweed at least) and I’m really looking forward to getting to grips with it.
I’ve got lots of questions about how to get set up. There are so many issues you don’t really have to think about in a garden. Water, security, power, getting tools up there etc etc. So I’m hoping there will be some brains available to pick.

Hello and welcome.
If there's no water butts check and see if there's a stand pipe your allowed to use. If not, get some water butts set us asap before summer to give them a chance to fill. Our plot has no tap and one butt that was 100L. We lost everything in 2018 in the drought as we couldn't get enough water up there.

Hi there, I’m in Leicestershire too, I’ve answered on your other post about paths & Ibc tanks. Take a look at the gardeners diaries on here, good way of keeping a record of what you’ve been up to & a comments thread linked gives us the chance to comment, plus if you put the link in your signature line it’s even easier
