Title: Cress
Post by: JaK on November 27, 2010, 09:26
Yes I know it's not a very interesting thing to grow but my kids love it and it is always needed in an egg sandwich! We grow lots of it but can only seem to be able to get the curly cress, I would love to grow the cress that you can by in the supermarkets too as they do taste a little different. Does anyone know where I can get seed online?

JaK, are you thinking of Watercress. Mr. Fothergills Aqua is the one I grow.

In which case you should be able to buy packets of this from practically everywhere, my kids used to grow it in empty egg shells with faces drawn on so they had cress hair  :)

Watercress is also easy to grow, buy a bunch eat the leaves and put the stalks in a jar of water.
It will grow. :)

Most of the cress you get in supermarkets isn't cress at all but oil seed rape or some other brassica.

If you grow a lot of it don't waste money on those piddly little packets from big seed companies.

gardenseeds.co.uk do 250g packets of cress and white mustard seeds.
