Potatoes again - planting and harvesting times
« on: February 19, 2010, 09:47 »
We all know roughly  when to plant the chitted seeds, however does one take the harvesting time to be from  actual planting or from when growth just appears out of the soil.  There can be up to a month between the two events.

Planting, but a good clue for main crop is the foliage dying down.

If you want "new" potatoes you lift before maturity.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

potatoes take about four months for earlies from time of planting if you want them smaller you have a furtle about three months to see progress . in the summer they take three months so the warmer the weather the less time they will take simples.

i'd say 10/12 weeks. Depends on the variety but most within 14 weeks.

This is for earlies.
Top tip for camping....don't go.

More than a tad I should think, here in the warm (not now though!)

My earlies are late if they take 12 weeks...........although it's not as important for the others :)
