hi yah all!! I was told today that putting potatoe peelings in compost bin is wrong beacuse they will go green and will poison the rest of it, is this true?? thanks you in advance!  :)
How much oil could a gumboil boil if a gumboil could boil oil hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!

tell who ever told ya that u got fairies in ya garden mate . all green waste can be composted , evenif its white tater peels .  :wink:

Green potatoes are poisonous to eat so the only thing to do is chop the up small and put them on the compost heap.

This hobby is rife with these mysterious tales of woe. Shove them all in, green, white, yellow, red. They all rot. There is another myth about not putting potato peelings on the compost because they grow. Who cares if they do?

Things to avoid:
Meat leftovers. - Attracts vermin.
Lumps of wood or heavy prunings. - Takes too long to break down.
Thorny stuff like roses, holly, etc. - Hurts when you grab hold of it.
Perennial weed roots like bindweed. - Some like it hot.
Bricks and stones. - Takes millions of years to compost.
Carnivore poo. - Good vector for human disease and bad smell.
Sawdust. - Chokes off the air supply.
