it will be that her system is just getting used to laying. This egg will have come a little bit quick and missed the shell part and the shell colouring stage. just to be sure cut right down on the treats and feed them just the layers pellets and the oyster shell.
You may not see them eating the oyster shell as they only need a little bit but will help themselves to it as and when they need it  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Yes me too today had an egg no shell. I think its my Burford Brown on her first lay. We have had such awful wind today I think also this has unsettled her and scared the egg out of her quickly, poor thing. It did kind of freak me out a bit seeing it there in the nesting box until I started reading about it, and it seems fairly normal for pullets and their first laying experiences. Forums are so useful arnt they as there is always someone on that knows these things lol. Phew thank goodness otherwise i would be a nervous wreck.

What are you feeding them?  How long have you had your ex-bats?  I think from what I've read on this site that ex-bats have such a hard time in their early years and have to lay so many eggs in such a short space of time that it's probably more likely that your hen is closer to the end of her laying career.  Others will have to confirm that though as I haven't got ex-bats.

What do you feed her and does she have access to oyster shell?

Here is some more information on ex-battery hens.
