So this is my first attempt at growing potatoes in bags. They got off to a late start as we are around a 1000ft above sea level, up in the Welsh valleys. They are now going great - how tall should I let them get before earthing them up?

There is a bag of first earlies, on of second earlies, and two of main crop.

As they grow keep filling the bag so that you just cover the leaves. Once the bag is full wait until you can feel the spud's by pressing the bag. Make sure the engine is running  and get them home and in the pot asap. Yum

Following on from what fatcat says... After week 6 (or thereabouts) the bags should be at the point they are earthed up to the rim, then I water each bag weekly.  I add tomato feed to each weekly watering - works for me.
