Hi All,
Anyone let me know what is a reasonable price for new Greenhouse Glass.
I need about six sheets varying from 24 x 24 and 24 x 28.5 (inches that is) :tongue2:
Don't want to get ripped off if i can help it :)
Thanks to all.

Hi
I'm in the same sutuation, just in the middle of glazing the greenhouse so looking for glass also. A standard 2foot square (24x24) is normal size and the local ironmongers do it for £6 a pane, thats ridicilous so I'll try and contact the local glaziers tomorow, the neighbours said they got it for £1.50 a pane which is good so I'm in confusion at the moment.

When I last bought some greenhouse glass (about 7 years ago) I used a backstreet small glaziers.
Bread and butter for them so they give a good price.

ferget buying horti glass just buy normal window glass .its cheaper to buy and replace  and it werks the same . it allows light in if its to bright and your getting frazzled edges on ya toms get some greenhouse glass whitening...£1 a box ... or use well diluted cheap emulsion on a hot day ,, werks for me

Thanks to all for the advice.
Munty, I always thought greenhouse glass was cheaper as it had flaws in it and household glass was more perfect.
You learn something new everyday

nah its summat to with its chemical make up and the way its rolled out ... go skip diving where they are replacing old windies with double glazing n get a glass cutter fer even more cheaper alternative

Need to watch the weight if it's a lighweight frame though. :?
Domestic glass is a lot thicker and heavier and may be toughened (which can't be cut).
Otherwise, sounds good. :D

Just called my local glass merchants for prices...
24 x 24 = £2.50 each
24 x 28.75 = £3.50 each
To complete my greenhouse I'm going to need 3 x 24 x 24 and 5 x 24 x 28.75. :)
Then i'll post some piccies of it.
Washing the old glass was hard enough, took me nearly all day today :o

why not try Freecycle. I broke loads of mine when i bought second hand and had to dismantle. Got all the glass i needed free gratis. Always worth a try.
