dont know about you but ive got tonnes of the stuff!!!! we steam the leaves, and as i hate waste of any kind i thaught ide make a recipe for using the stalks.

3lb onions finely chopped
2lb apples peeled cored and chopped
2lb swiss chard stalks chopped 5mm thick.
3 pints cheapy balsamic vinegar
3lb preserving sugar
2 teaspoons mixed spices
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
5 table spoons corn flour

this is so easy you wouldnt believe! heat the vinegar, when hot add the sugar and stir till desolved, then add all the rest save the corn flour. simmer for 1 hour then thicken with the corn flour.put in warmed sterilised jars and seal!
this si ready to use streight away as the balsamic vinegar adds a well matured flavour!

enjoy!
