Title: Sawdust/woodshavings... have i got it wrong!!!

Argh!  i managed to buy Woodshavings instead of Sawdust... and the birds have been eating it... have i poisoned them :(

Not loads of it, but still a bit - can someone help? xxx Fi xxx

you need dust extracted woodshavings, do not use sawdust, or you can use a hemp based horse bedding like hemcore.
all can come from a good mill or large petstore.

i use both hemcore and shavings, occasionally a chuck will have a peck at them, try to get softwood shavings, usually light coloured, but if you buy it from a good store it will usually be ok

Mine, especially the cockerel, always peck at the fresh wood shavings, must admit I was alarmed the first time they did it - but nothing surprises me any more with what a chicken will eat!  :lol:
