Title: Day old/week old chicks
Post by: rugbymad40 on April 13, 2007, 21:35
hello Folks,

We have had a modicome of success with hatching some egs in a homemade incubator.  We had 8 eggs and three hatched, sadly we lost a chick today which fell asleep in the water tray!  We wanted six hens, so we need to get some additional stock.  Does anyone out there know of a supplier that sells day old or week old chicks that is based in the Surrey area?

If not, is it feasible to buy point of lays to establish a coup and then introduce our home bred birds in 18 weeks or so.

The chicks we have are most probably a Black Rock and a Warren.  Will post some pictures on my gallery over the weekend - Aunt Sally you will love them.  The girls have named them Fluffy and Lucky. Lets hope they are not cockerels

Similar situation here, had a couple we hatched and needed a few more.

Recently got a few week old chicks from www.perfectpoultry.co.uk. All doing fine 3 weeks on.

Maybe give them a try?
