Hanging basket question
« on: May 15, 2020, 11:11 »
I have the following plug plants to put in a hanging basket
Salvia Annual
Echium blue Bedder
bacobe
Lobelia

These to put in a bigger pot (maybe in the ground)
Viola Hannah May
Anthemis tinctoria
Scabiosa Columbaria

Any idea how many of each can go together or should  it be one per pot?
Apparently bacobe can be 4 in a pot so I am not sure.

The trick for really good hanging baskets is to pack plants in, but then look after them really well.  Water retaining gel and slow release fertiliser can be a real help.  You can buy a pack of the two mixed together if you look around, but I would see what you can get hold of easily at the moment.

They need watering at least once a day and feeding every week.  If you can't get the gel crystals you can use either a piece of plastic in the base of the basket or broken up oasis (flower arranging foam).  If you can't get slow release fertiliser, just feed with a good liquid feed - tomato feed, Growmore.... it is all good  :)

That is excellent advice.  I put so much in them I cannot see the soil,   but that watering and feeding is vital.
Good luck,   Mrs Bouqet

Thank you all, what about these two plants
Anthemis tinctoria
Scabiosa Columbaria

Best in the ground or could they be in a pot?
