I shall be sauteeing some in butter too as I had this in a swanky restaurant and blimey they were good.

hello,jonajo could you tell us how we smoke beetroot it sounds gourgeous  id like to give it a try im really fond of smoked foods thanks darren :D

I roast beetroot in skins, whole, for about 30 mins in the oven until just going soft. Then peel and slice.

Then heat up a bbq  with  special "smoking wood chips" until the wood chips start to smoke fully. pop in the beetroot and put lid on tightly. Cook about 15 mins with the heat still on gently, then turn heat off and leave to cool. I sometimes add woody herbs, tea leaves and demerera sugar etc to the smoking mixture for added flavour.

Has anyone tried making, or indeed eating, the beetroot tart tartin (a la Hugh Fernly Wotsit)?  I think it sounds lush

Picked a few baby sized beets today, roasted them off and had them in my salad and were delicious.....
