Sorry redwellies, but I have to agree with the others. We get black ones here, big thugs that can do serious damage chewing through house roof eves for shelter, chewing coops for feed, chewing birdfeeders for more feed and no end of damage to valuable planting material for whatever reason they dig and chew.  A few have even vocally challengened me when I've gotten in their way outside. The ones who push their luck damaging my property get a quick one to the head; the others I leave in peace. My pellet rifle stays at the ready all summer.

I agree with telling kids the facts, tell 'em how it really is, fairytale illusions are all very well, but not very practicle. Kids are robust and deal with the truth well. I used to go shooting with my dad when i was little and gutted my first rabbit at 5, had goslings for my fifth birthday and cudnt wait to eat them, sounds a bit peculiar maybe, but that was life and i accepted that. Dont think it did me any harm, i think im quite a decent balanced young lady.  :)

I should never have mentioned squirrels. Look where it's lead to.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
