growing cauliflower
« on: July 11, 2012, 13:51 »
I'm growing cauliflower and the beautiful little heads are starting to form. The pigeons already eat a big part of the leaves away. Nonetheless the heads started to form immaculately. Now I want to protect the heads as good as possible of the pigeons and also slugs. I already tried pellets and that jelly stuff against the slugs. I don't have the impression that they work very well. And my generell feeling is I want to pack the whole cauliflower away with the tag "mine"! Any good and working ideas to protect it??  Roll Eyes

Hi, you can net the cauliflowers from birds and the pellets for slugs. the slugs have been a nightmare for most so pellets are the only effective method of control unless you want to go every night, find them and chuck them away from your cauliflower.
