Lawn mower spares

I have a Honda HRB 423 push petrol mower the reciol starter has failed. I looked on the

internet for a replacement unit is seems the modle is now out of date. the only one I found

they wanted £78 for one, does anyone out there know where I can cet one at a more

reasonable price please

What has failed ,just because the stater does not work doesn't necessarily mean the the whole thing has to be replaced

when you pull out the cord to start the mower it will not recoil, I have the unit off the mower there is a screw on the bottom but I cannot get it undone to get to the inner gubbins.
will take pictures tommorow so you will see what I am talking about ::)

you should be able to purchase a recoil spring.

Thank you. I have taken it apart it is definitly the spring.

Hopefuly chap who told me the price of the complete unit will be able to supply a spring.

 I will have to ask my son to put it back together again my fingers are not so nimble as

they used to be ::) ::)

ebay have a whole selection of recoil starter springs at reasonable prices - all less than a tenner.

thank you again :) I looked at them there were no springs for a 423Honda  :(

will have to keep looking there must be some somewhere ::)

a lot of parts like that are pretty standard between the ranges so one may be right, other than that you could try taking the one you have to a mower repair shop to see if they can match it, though it will probably cost more.

When you track down the spring, it will come wired in the tensioned position. 

DO NOT release this wire retainer until you are sure it is installed correctly.
