worms = blindness?

Someone told me recently that an overburden of worms can cause a chicken to go blind. Is this true?

I'm in the process of worming our chickens at the moment with Flubenvet. It is overdue (around 8 months) which is bad. One of them did pass worms on the first day of worming.
It has been a bit awkward because we've had two new pullets and I wanted to make sure they were fully integrated before shutting them all in the run together.
Maybe they said it to scare me into worming them. It worked!

It is also called Manson's eye worm of poultry but its more correct name is the 'tropical eyeworm' of poultry, so I not in the UK !
