Wisteria with yellowing leaves
« on: May 25, 2011, 17:38 »
Hi

A friend has a wisteria which has been in situ for about six years and was growing nicely, however, most of the leaves have recently started to yellow. It's the whole leaf, rather than the veins or the fleshy bit.

Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to bring a bit of colour back in to the poor thing?

Many thanks

Have all the ties that were on the plant when bought been removed? My friend had the same trouble and a tie was choking the plant to death. Wisteria do not like heavy fertiliser doses, has it been fed recently? Also they like good drainage.

Thanks Fatcat.

It hasn't been fed and we struggle to hold any moisture in our soil so it can't be either of those. It could well be the ties. We'll have a look at the older growth to see if there are any eating in to the stems.
