I have been very lucky up to now and have only read of some of the gross things hens like to eat.
However, I was on the mobile when I seen one hen passing the patio doors with something dangling out of her mouth of course I had to have a look and much to my horror she had a dead bird (Little chick), dogs then seen the commotion and starting barking, I'm on the phone pretending nothing as gross as what I was witnessing was happening, so by the time I got some kitchen paper (to lift the dead chick) and went outside, there she was hoofing it across the yard with another hen in chase. Needless to say by the timeI got over there there was nothing to be picked up and one hen with a rather full crop.  Yuck!!!

Humans are just as bad. I've even heard of them eating something that drops out of a hens bum.

There are some threads I should just learn to ignore.  Ones with "Yuck" in the subject line are obvious but I never seem to learn.

Our hens found a dead chick last week and we had a regular rugby match trying to get it away from her too!

Mine won't usually touch anything long dead, but fresh dead stuff like poor little chicks that have fallen out of the nest or stuff they can catch stands no chance and is usually wolfed down.

I've learned to look away when they start running round the garden chasing each other for whatever treasure they have found
