I don't have a shed as such ... just a wooden tool store and this was fixed to  base I made of 3" posts.  As I am a weekend/summer evening lottie person a big shed seemed like a waste of growing space and all my tools fit inside a 2ft6 sq by 6ft store.

I have made up a shed of timber from here there and every where, im thinking of putting in some more supports as the site rep has since told me that the winds get up and they have help some people back in palce with there sheds a few times. I can take a hint the little shed wont move by the time i have finished with it. i picked up some heavy angle braket it is gonna make it solid whens its fixed in the ground.
Thanks
Kris

I've always had problems with rats getting under sheds unless the base is constructed from something solid around the perimeter (& that extends below ground) and some mesh is fixed across the ends of the bearers.

So sooner or later you'r going to have to nail a timber plate on the end of a long stick, tie baler twine around your trouser bottoms and push the rats complete with all their nest material/food that they've dragged in, together with their young, etc. and shove it out and deal with it.

Much simpler to get a few metres of galvanised expanded metal lath from a builders skip (used by bricklayers for reinforcing brick/blockwork joints/junctions and also by plasterers for getting a bond on smooth surfaces).

about to put up new shed given to me by a neighbour as I cant get hold of angle iron to secure the shed - last one keeled over twice in winds ots now permanently horizontal  i was thinking of using those metapost spikes and some short posts I have and attach these would that be stable enough? I dont really want to find this shed lying down on the job :D :D

That's how I fixed my homemade greenhouse down

My shed stands on a hefty paved base as my sister wanted to dispose of a pile of street paving slabs (they weighed a ton!).

I was happy to use them to avoid the rat problem experienced with a shed that had been in place for 50+ years.

I have left a very minimal space between the wooden shed floor and the paving in the hope that nothing larger than a slim mouse might make it under there

As for keeping the shed in place in high winds - I leave an old Howard 200 rotovator in there to anchor it down  ;)

I guess it would depend on how deep a bed you want...  ::) and how stable the soil is underneath...

We have a 7 x 5 shed and we used about 9 bags of peas shingle.

You need to put a frame around it to contain the gravel similar to what we did.

It doesn't have to be as hevy as the one Worzel made.  We always over engineer ::)
