Home made screen for polytunnel
« on: March 25, 2012, 18:39 »
I have recently bought this small polytunnel for a sheltered spot in the garden and was wondering how to overcome the problem of ventilation in the summer. The little windows just won't be enough on very hot days and I have the added isue of a destructive magpie and a blind Labrador looking for toilet opportunities in compost!
Today I made this out of an old net curtain. Because I made it up as I went along, it did take a lot longer than I first thought. Yes it is a bit chintzy, but I am pleased with the result. So far, neither magpie nor dog has ventured in!

Stick on velcro for the sides

I sewed the velcro to the curtain.

bamboo cane along the top. ( I used iron on webbing to make the tab for the pole. )

velcro tieback

All works well and very easily, not bad for next to nothing.  :D

Tres swish  :D :D

If you grow crops that need pollinating you might need to let bees etc in some how though..........

You're right, I will have to give them a window of opportunity when I am in the garden doing other things, and can supervise.
