OK everyone, a bit of a trivial topic, but what do you all store your seed/food in for your birds?  Do you have metal or plastic storage bins, or something else?  :?:

I keep the rabbit/cavy food in a plastic square swing bin, but with the lid replaced by a plywood and wood block lid.

I want to try and get some of those bins used in 'weigh and save' type shops

Same here, Purplebat, except it was the mice that chewed through the plastic bins. Now I've simply invested in the tallest galvanized I can find with tight fitting lids and the problem was quickly solved. Each galv. bin holds over 50 lbs of feed and seed.  :D

I have mine in plastic bins, one is an old swing bin but I taped the lid closed and  then covered the top with a bin liner too.

I keep enough feed for the week (rabbits) in a tuperware box in the house and refill from the larger bin when i need to.

Believe it or not but all my feed bins are kept in the garage, always. Ruddy vermin sneak under the expensive garage door fitting I installed especially to keep them out. House inside is too small to keep 4 tall garbage/feed bins. Don't even want to imagine the problems if I kept even the metal bins outside, let alone the former plastic ones. The racoons would make very short work of them, plastic or metal.

I suspect that the look would reveal the real you, Munty       I won't even try to send you a tail because the coons and skunks between them spread too much rabies. Is that at all like the weil thing talked about regarding rats?

Sounds a lot like what you'd get cleaning out bat droppings without protection. Nasty! Always makes me think of the James Bond movie Dr No and all the men handling guano with no protection. Dr No probably counted on them dropping off before payday
