Lobelia, to trail or not to trail ?
« on: May 21, 2020, 11:28 »
I was given some, which is supposed to be trailing,  I planted it at a slight angle, as I do all trailing things. At the moment it is about 5 inches tall, and very upright.    I have never had this happen before, any ideas please.  Mrs Bouquet

As it grows more the weight will probably make it flop over and start trailing :)

Can Lobelia actually "bolt"  They are now still growing taller with lots of foliage, not a great deal of flower.
Would it be a good idea to use scissors and trim them back into a nice shape ?   Or shall I live with them ?  Thanks,    Mrs Bouquet

Know the feeling..:0~

Our lobelia was self-seeded from last year, but seems to be OK so far! Great advice from here, so fingers crossed...

It will be fine to take the scissors to it.  I used to do the same regularly when I worked at the garden centre when pre-planted containers got a little wild.  Cut back, move off sale for a week or so, then put back out looking like nothing had happened  ;)  :)
