Hurricane Loranzo on the way
« on: September 29, 2019, 10:13 »
The papers will no doubt be all over this, but this time it looks like there may be some truth in their headlines..
https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_at3.shtml?start
NOAA thinks that Hurricane Lorenzo, or what's left of it, will probably be over Ireland by Thursday night with strong winds (max sustained winds around 70mph by then).
It will also cover a large portion of the UK, the Met Office is roughly in agreement with NOAA.
Lorenzo is whipping up a huge swell in the Atlantic at the moment and a storm surge is likely for Ireland and the SW Coast.
So be prepared for flood warnings later in the week.
So battendown the hatches, and anything else that's liable to blow away. Polytunnel owners beware...

I have just had a look at it on Met weather, as we are travelling from South Coast to York on Friday by car.
I expect Daughter and S-in-L will still want to go.  I shall just take hearing aids out and read a book, and do the crossword !  Then coming back Sunday  ::)  Mrs Bouquet
