leaf cutter bees
« on: July 17, 2015, 08:58 »
This morning I was out in my yard and noticed that large notches have appeared in the leaves of my Abutilon plant, seemingly overnight! I kept watching the plant and a leaf cutter bee came down, bit neatly around a section of leaf and was gone in seconds. First-time I have seen these in my garden, thrilled to bits but slightly concerned for the future of the plant because it is small and doesn't have many leaves to start with! I will just keep an eye on it and if it gets too bad I will put up a physical barrier. I have plenty of other plants they are welcome to chew on!!
