Yes it works fine, not as intensive a flavour as from blackcurrants. I have just checked and discovered approx 1 litre of "Blackberry Vodka Sept 2006" left - will have a taste later and check how it's maturing.

Beautiful - brings back memories of eating berries straight from the bushes.

P.S. Just bought a Hip Flask Set from Wilkos (50% off) consisting of stainless steel flask, funnel and 4 cups in leather pouch - all for £2.49.

What do you do with the pips/stones? Leave them in, or strain them?

Actually, I found the 0.5 gall flagon under my desk (they tend to get stored everywhere) as I started typing the response at 9am the morning and thought I'd better wait until after 2pm - did I do that?

Thanks David, Is the method of doing it posted somewhere, or can you advise me, e.g maturing times e.t.c.?

I think it was from here, but if you don't find it, come back:

But as it's the same method as for sloe gin, you may find that easier to locate here, or via the web.

a thing I did few years ago, cinammon vodka and vanilla vodka.
we tried the 2 with apple juice, tasted like apple crumble withoul the topping.
then we tried with crushed digestive on the top...
that was a not so good idea, but it had to be tried.

as I got hold of loads of le parfait jar, I am in a mood to start some boozy prunes, and other dried fruits .

There's a shop in Bath that does wierd drinks that you buy by volume, then they write a message in frilly writing with gold marker on the bottle.  They charge the earth for that.

I know several mates that would appreciate flavoured vodka for a pressie so may well have a bash this summer....but will it last til Christmas?

Here's the link, the flavour combos under fruity liqueurs may give you all some ideas - nice bottles though

Mashauk's post from Christmas Tipple in Off Topic.

This is from my mum's magazine:

1 litre vodka
4 tbsp dark brown sugar
1 cinnamon stick
2 cloves
Peel of 1 orange & 1 lemon
1 oz currants, raising & dried figs (sorry I wrote this on the back of an envelope and now can't remember if it's 1oz each or 1 oz total, think it'll be each though!)

Sterilise 2 1/4 pint bottle
Combine ingredients in a jug & put in bottle & seal
Leave in a cool dark place for 2 weeks (oops!!!)
Turn occasionally
Using coffee filter paper funnel into nice bottles. Add a fresh piece of peel & cinnamon

Sorry, I hadn't read it since I wrote it, didn't realise you had to leave it for 2 weeks. If you make it let me know what it's like and I'll do it next year.

Thanks once again  David, just put a litre on.
How long a maturing would you give it to be at it's best?

Me too, until I realised it was 'inside', when I started trying to shoo it to the side with my cursor!
