Making marmalade. After a mix up on the fruit buying I have made 3 quantities of 4 fruit marmalade,should have been 3 fruit marmalade but that's where the mix up came in. Also meant I'd got too much to cook in one go in my new maslin pan,even though it holds 15 pints, so had to do 2 batches, but never mind I now have this,see photo's below.

What have you mainly been doing on a day when you can't go & play outside?

Has all that marmalade come from just that fruit in the picture?! I have never made marmalade, only jam. It looks good. I have been tying out new recipes, and transferring all my online saved recipes to folders on my favourite site so that they are all in one place together. It is very boring. But,  some good coffee,  a fluffy, snuggly pussy cat on my knee and the view into  the garden of the beautiful snow and the birds on the feeders makes it far more enjoyable!

Fun isn't it... I did that, then paid the greedy monster his Tax & NI.

Feeling sorry for myself I then stewed up all little bits of soft fruit which were falling out of the freezer every time I opened the door and bulked it out with a couple of Christmas apples.  At least now I can put it in some C500 out of the way.

Was working yesterday but have this week off work now   

Was planning to catch up on the allotment, but that's looking unlikely    I'm planning to do some cooking instead for at least part of this week.  Things I want to try but haven't yet, so going to hit the recipe books and look for stuff I fancy having a go at

I was making bread today until my son upset my syrup, butter, hot milk mixture but didn't notice so walked off and left it, or ignored it    It was everywhere including all my drawers (ooer missus) floor, window ledge, tea tray was swimming in it,, eg teapot, kettle etc etc

I could have cried as I had to empty the drawers to mop up the mess.  All over the blinking cutlery.  I must confess I did say blast and bother!

Oh, I don't envy you trying to clean up that lot. Sons' are very good at 'not noticing' the mess that they make!

So a very varied response to my enquiry.Very interesting.
Yes that fruit did make  all those jars,but they are not all 1lb jars,I prefer small jars where possible as I find it keeps it nice & fresh & I love opening a new jar to put on my bread. I have yet to make up 3 tins of the ready prepared seville orange fruit that I have lurking in the cupboard. Not sure what jars i will use as I have about used them up. I will have to ask for donations & I won't be buying them ala European union-methinks they have shares in a jam jar company.
CQ I think I might have said a bit more than blast & bother  

Today I have been mainly getting blisters on my heels when my walking boots rubbed them when I walked the 4 miles to work in the snow. Hard work

I bought one of those tins of prepared seville for marmalade making and it's just so much easier and faster I doubt I'll ever make it with fruit again

I will have to have a go at making some. Glad it tasted as good as it looked.
I am collecting them all to my Epicurious website (one of my favourites anyway), you add something called an Epicurious Clipper to your bookmark toolbar and can then add any recipe from anywhere on the net. But I really like Epicurious because it lets you sort your recipes into whatever folders you care to make up and so they are easy to find.

Got some bramley apple lemon curd left from winterval pressies to use up, so tonight for pud going to make a lemon curd steamed sponge pud and some lemon curd flavoured silly twits ice-cream
