Title: auxilary drive
Post by: thedadtony on August 27, 2012, 17:59
the auxilary drive on my inherited Classic Briggs and Stratton mower won't work, on giving it a coat of looking at I decided it needs something to hold the gearbox in place. I have looked on several sites but none of them show the auxilary drive components.
Can somebody shed some light please?.

Auxilary drive?
Are you sure that the mower is a Briggs and Stratton? or is that just the engine?

Early garden kit had extra conectgions  to drive flexy drives for hedge trimmers ect but thats not on the newer equipment . Is the drive a extra pulley?

yes,I think the gearbox is ok, but it seems very loose so the belt won't stay on, i think there must be either a plate or some brackets missing that the gearbox is fixed to.

There ought to be a small white/silver sticker on the machine that will give us the art no. If you can give me that, I will be able to give you a part number for the tension spring that is missing.
