Hi can anyone give advice on road and path making for a new allotment site please.
We are at a planning stage for village allotments and path + road construction needs to be right.
I would like any ideas on Tarmac, Slabs, or anything else
I've seen paths and drives made from what looks like mill waste are these a viable option ?
Cost like everything will be an issue but I would like this to be done properly for future plot holders and the long term benefit of the site
Paths will be approx 900mm wide if that's any relevance.

Around our way, when the council replaced the old flags for tarmac pavements they used to sell off the old flags, H+S now dictates they are no longer permitted to sell to the general public. I heard on the grapevine that a good few of said slabs fell from the sky onto our plots for paths ;) might be worth enquiring if you know someone. With reagrds the road I have no idea.

We are in the process of having our roardways resurfaced, the council have very kindly paid for road plainings to be delivered and a company come into lay and compact them. i know that this can work out very expensive but some builders get the plainings for free, it is worth asking round as once down they make an excellent surface.

For foot paths around the country park we use wooden edgings,type 1 road stone with granite dust topping all whacker plated or rolled with a machine that we get on hire. its great for wheel chairs access and quite clean and tidy when done right.
