Title: slow worm
Post by: cede on April 02, 2006, 17:38
i found a small slow worm on my plot on saturday morning! :D  and even more amazing she was there again this afternoon in the same place! several people had told me of seeing them in compost heaps etc so i was surprised that she was on the open plot in the middle of the day.

I have never seen one on my plot.  There were hundreds of tiny  creamy white little worm like things in the pig muck - haven' t a clue what they were!

We used to get lots of slow worms in our garden in Kent, but not seen any in the 10 years we've been away from there.

two other people on the site had mentionned seeing slow worms - one in a compost bin (i would suppose slatted type) and one under plastic sheeting. but we have a pond for watering and the site backs on to fields, so i imagine that i will be seeing a lot more wildlife. i have seen deer in the field, but i'm not at that end so hope i won't see crops disappearing.

i used to love catching slow worms and snakes as a kid and at the weekend me and OH went and bought two rat snakes.
