Title: Can I compost these plants?
Post by: cc on July 28, 2017, 11:42
Need to do a bit of clearing out. Trees and ivy need serious cutting back. Do have a shredder, would these shread down for quicker composting? One picture shows two plants one is the ivy not lots of it.

The first one looks like a clematis, any green growth/leaves will compost very easily - but if it is a Clematis Montana it may have thick woody stems which would be better off being shredded, or did you mean the evergreen behind it?
Evergreens including Ivy do need shredding and will obviously take longer to compost, so I'd keep them in a separate pile.

Both but the ivy is just trimming not going back to the woody bit. Clematis Montana. Thank you.
