checked on my broody this afternoon after we had been out.
found another broken egg in the run, there were signs of blood but nothing else?
would she eat the contents

Is your broody coming off the nest to eat and drink?

Is it possible you have a problem with rats?

they might not have had viable chicks. I've just hatched some eggs and one had not formed right and was no good

If they are not viable eggs as grinling said, it will be a case of waste not want not.  A broody will get plenty of nutrients from the eggs.  You might be better candling the remainder to see if they are viable.
