bargain jars
« on: December 13, 2009, 12:20 »
Went to tesco (i know i know) and got some bargain jars - little ones with mint sauce in for 13p - they are soaking at this very moment (to remove labels) and then a good wash will be great for chilli jam i am making - thought the 25p beetroot ones were a good buy but these are better as i can make more jars of smaller quantities - ideal for a good selection

by little i dont mean tiny, about the size of posh chutney jars
just keep breathing................

Yeah  chili jam - there is a recipe in Vals book - but i made this one from a Nigella recipe - watched one of her Christmas cookery programmes on sky last night - it looked yummy and we have quite a lot of chili's - i would say the finished product will rpbably taste a little like sweet chili dipping sauce only thicker -

Nigella's recipe was an easy one to do - looks really pretty and festive in the jars too

apple sauce jars were cheap too - you could take the apple sauce out and freeze it too - bonus - had to wash the mint sauce lids in really hot soapy water to get rid of the minty niff though

know where i am getting my jars from for next years jam fest!!

Slightly OT Titch, but I had some mint jelly delivered in error - is there anything you can make with it - other than bunging it on spuds & with lamb??
