Asparagus

Thinking of making an asparagus bed at my lot. I have 2 crowns on the go that are about 2 years old now but would like to extend the patch, should I plant now or prepare and plant in april? The bit of space I have has potatoes in it at the moment but they need to come out, will this spot be ok? also should i plant them in rows or blocks?

Shazza - if you're willing to wait 3 years to build your bed up, I have any amount of seed I can pass on. PM me if you'd like some.

For those that already have requested the seed they should be on their way soon.
