I´ve planted up today:  garlic and onions sets and set seeds for: cabbage, cauliflower, peas, spinach.  We have a log burner, I have been putting the ash on the garden, is it ok to continue putting it on the veg garden now the veg is in?

Put the ash onto your compost heap by the time the compost is ready the potash should be fine also.

My father has also spread potash on one of my beds where I was planning on planting the rhubarb and comfrey. Will they survive there?

Heard on the radio this week that ash has to be put on the ground fresh and dry, because as soon as it gets wet all the 'good stuff' that it contains leaches out and is lost immediately.

I should be ok then, we only have a log burner for heating (I lie, we have a gas heater, but that causes much condensation, only use that now and again, and it is more expensive to use all the time)
Many thanks for your answers

Oh I forgot to add that 'they' said don't put it out on a windy day (obvious really), and that it was best to put the dry ash on damp ground shortly before a light rain.
