Pasta fork...
« on: July 11, 2014, 15:07 »
We love Italy, and I'm a pasta fanatic, so lots of our veg get used up with pasta, mainly penne, as it's cheap and cheerful in Twongos!

Over the years, we've acquired lots of spare cutlery from various old family homes, and there's one fork which seems to have appeared from nowhere! (Actually, there's another which turned up the same way, but there are no knives)!

So, my question to all 'Italiphiles' is, do the Italians use a special fork to eat pasta, especially penne, but most other styles, as I've managed to bend the one I use so that it is exactly in the right position to spear penne, and also (right-handedly), deal with most other shapes!

It's just a normal fork for pasta  ;)

But if you bend the handle of a fork to suit the spearing, Mum, and make it a right-handed implement, it makes the enjoyment of the pasta so much more agreeable!

Mrs Growster taught me how to twiddle spaghetti, using a fork and a spoon, and over the years, we've decided to just ditch the spoon and go for a 'fork-cutting' action...

But for luxuries like penne, well, I need to use the right bit of kit, don't I!

For spaghetti, you don't twirl it round in a spoon - to eat all'italiano simply twirl a few strands of spaghetti around the fork which is pressed against the bottom of the plate.

Fork cutting - is sooo not the done thing  :nowink:

Still as long as you enjoy it, however you eat it

But penne is perfect for two pieces per fork-full!

I agree - secretly - with you about 'fork-cutting' Mum, but there are several pullovers upstairs which are unwearable these days, because of the waving spag-bol..;0)

Actually, it's through chums here, that I really discovered home-made pesto, and we grow rocket purely for that delicacy! It's a regular lunch for me, although Mrs Growster isn't keen on it at all, but she does enjoy making it and we have about three hours of chopping, and cursing the blender, as it won't settle for ages..;0)
