Happens every year, spinach grows on nicely and I start cropping.  Wonderful.  As soon as I get a bit off it bolts.  Even the patch I had under the cool and shade of an apple tree has gone.  Anyway I'm not complaining I will have a another spring sowing next year.  In the mean time I have planted out some perpetual spinach.  OH says we grew that very successfully 25 years ago when we started out.

Does anybody keep spinach going for more than a single cut?  What's your secret

first year mine was rubbish,second year it was better.I think it likes like rich ground and plenty of water,which was where I was going wrong.

i think you have to find a variety of spinach that is resistant to bolting. I have a franchi seed pack called Merlo Nero and its prone to bolting easily as soon as it gets warm. i have tried to grow early as possible this year but the cold weather doesn't help its growth. think earlier you grow you might be prone to pests like flea beetles.
